Situated in the heart of Xiamen Island, near the intersection of Lvling Road and Mid. Yunding Road, our school enjoys a tranquil and picturesque setting adjacent to Zhonglun Park. With an investment of approximately ¥2.2 billion from Xiamen Hengxing Group, we have engaged a renowned design team to create a state-of-the-art campus spanning 98,000 square meters, encompassing a total floor area of 200,000 square meters. Our goal is to establish an eco-friendly, technologically advanced, artistic, vibrant, and scholarly environment that fosters open collaboration and diverse learning experiences for both students and faculty.

When our first principal Wei ,Liu wrote an article Coming for an Ideal School, he planted a seed of ideal and clearly outlined its eight essential dimensions. During my time working with him, I could clearly see that the ideal school in his heart had begun to take shape: a fertile land filled with care for life, a home where teachers and students grow together, and a palace where thoughts bloom freely. Today, taking up his baton, we must not only carry forward his original aspiration but also shoulder the mission of advancing this ideal palace to the next milestone amid the tide of the new era.

The torrent of the artificial intelligence era is no longer a distant vision of the future, but a reality we experience every moment. It is no longer merely a tool, but a fundamental environment that reshapes the world and defines human uniqueness. In such an era, our “ideal school” must evolve. It should not only uphold the warm care for people and the firm commitment to growth, but also keenly foresee the future and nurture a new generation that can coexist with intelligence and ensure that technology always shines with the light of humanity.

Therefore, we propose the four core pillars of an Ideal School 2.0,which is the inheritance of the eight dimensions, yet a deepening and pioneering vision for the future:

Pillar 1: From a “Knowledge Delivery Venue” to a “Mind Incubator”

An ideal School 1.0 emphasizes intellectual enlightenment; Version 2.0 goes further: the highest form of education is to cultivate the mind. In an age where AI can easily access and process massive information, schools should focus on incubating critical thinking, complex problem-solving, creativity, and empathy. Classrooms will shift from “answering questions” to “discovering and defining problems,” from a training ground for standard answers to a laboratory for exploring possibilities. We will build complex, interdisciplinary, cross-time-and-space (blended online and offline) real-world challenge scenarios, enabling students to make decisions amid uncertainty, inspire innovation through collaboration, and make the unique light of the human mind an irreplaceable strength.

Pillar 2: From “Mutual Growth of Teachers and Students” to “Human-AI Co-Learning, Teacher-Student Co-Creation”

We cherish and deepen the warm emotional bonds and intellectual inspiration between teachers and students—the soul of education. At the same time, we must actively embrace the “third educational partner”: artificial intelligence. It will serve as a personalized learning navigator for every student, assessing progress in real time and providing tailored resources. It will also be a super teaching assistant for teachers, freeing their creativity from tedious tasks. Thus, the teacher-student relationship is elevated: teachers become more like mentors of the spirit, designers of learning journeys, and partners in innovative projects. Teachers and students learn to collaborate with AI together, and in the process, gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be human, jointly creating emotional depth, moral judgment, and meaning-seeking that AI cannot replace.

Pillar 3: From a “Closed Campus” to a “Borderless Learning Ecosystem”

An ideal school should break down physical and disciplinary walls. In the Era of 2.0, technology will transform the school into an open hub. Corporate laboratories, research institutes, community centers, global classrooms, and virtual simulation worlds will all become learning spaces. Learning will no longer be confined to fixed timetables and classrooms, but driven by real-world problems and projects. By participating in community environmental protection, cultural heritage, simulated business innovation, and other projects, students will develop digital citizenship and global competitiveness, connecting learning closely to social progress and human well-being.

Pillar 4: From “ Grades-first” to “Cultivating Wholeness in the Digital Age”

In a world deeply integrated with AI, the ultimate goal of education—nurturing whole, happy, empathetic, and responsible individuals—has become more important and complex than ever. Ideal School 2.0 places digital literacy, digital ethics, and mental health at its core. We will systematically guide students to understand the logic and limitations of algorithms, manage digital identity and privacy, develop healthy human connections (both offline and online), and build inner resilience to cope with a rapidly changing world. We aim to cultivate “whole persons” who can navigate freely in the digital world while remaining grounded in real life with rich spiritual lives.

This palace of ideals has never been completed, nor will it ever be.From Version 1.0 to 2.0, what changes is our perspective, strategies, and tools in responding to the challenges of the times. What remains unchanged is our original aspiration: for the full, free, and excellent development of every life.

Our founding principal painted the blueprint and laid a solid foundation with wisdom and courage. Today, as his successor, I will work with all colleagues, students, parents, and everyone who cares about education to continue building on this precious foundation. We will not only safeguard this warm educational home but also, with an open mind and innovative courage, upgrade it into an Ideal School 2.0 that can nurture and define the future.

Amidst the juxtaposition of white marbles and red bricks, a design emerges that is both unassuming yet captivating, understated yet refined. This architectural form masterfully incorporates townhouses, bay windows, intricate carvings, and symmetrical alignment. It speaks a unified architectural language, meticulously addressing every detail, resulting in a harmonious fusion of the built environment with the natural surroundings. This synthesis presents a perfect blend of classicism and modernism.

When it comes to the planning and design of the schoolyard, a deeper interpretation of the concepts of a school and a yard unfolds. Within the confines of limited space, an invaluable garden oasis takes shape, achieving a harmonious interplay of architectural art, landscape aesthetics, and public art. The objective is to cultivate a human-centric, organic, and multi-dimensional cultural ambiance, with a relentless focus on innovation and artistic expression within the educational environment.
